WAVES
Waves consoles, primarily the eMotion LV1 Classic are fully integrated digital mixing systems designed for live sound, broadcast, and house-of-worship environments. They combine the software-based LV1 mix engine with a tactile hardware interface in a single, portable unit.
System Architecture
- Mix Engine: Operates on a proprietary 32-bit floating-point engine with sample rates from 44.1 to 96 kHz and ultra-low latency as low as 0.8 ms.
- Capacity: Out of the box, it supports 64 mono/stereo channels and 44 buses (8 groups, 24 auxes, 8 matrices, and 3 masters).
- Expansion: An optional software license can increase capacity to 80 stereo channels and 52 buses.
- DSP Power: Features a built-in SoundGrid server for internal processing, with the ability to add up to three additional external servers for heavy plugin loads or redundancy.
Hardware and Control
- Interface: A large 21.5-inch multi-touch screen (up to 1000 nits brightness) serves as the primary visual hub.
- Physical Controls: Equipped with 17 motorized 100mm faders, 16+1 precision encoders with mini-LCD displays for per-channel metering, and 16+2 customizable user keys.
- Local I/O: Includes 16 "Waves Signature" digitally controlled preamps, 12 line outputs, and AES3 connectivity (1 input with SRC, 2 outputs).
- Portability: Weighing 38.1 lbs, the console is designed to be flyable on commercial flights when appropriately cased.
Plugin Integration and Software
- Onboard Processing: Each channel features an 8-slot plugin rack. The console comes with 16 permanently licensed Waves plugins, including Waves Tune Real-Time, F6 Dynamic EQ, and Magma Tube Channel Strip.
- Remote Control: Compatible with several apps, including MixTwin (iPad mirroring), MyFOH (tablet mixing), and MyMon (individual monitor control for performers).
- Network Networking: Features 4 SoundGrid ports (2 Ethercon, 2 RJ45) for easy connection to stageboxes (like IONIC 16/24) or additional consoles for FOH/Monitor sharing.
